About the holiday
Otherstide (May 9th), otherwise known as the Feast of the Other, is a celebration of the Other, the founder of the Patrexean Chapter. It is specifically the feast day of the Patrexes, however, it is celebrated by the whole society.
It is named and themed after the Other, who was known as one of the most jovial, friendly and creative founders. To celebrate the spirit of them, members of New Gallifrey are encouraged to be especially kind to each other on this day, and present-giving is encouraged. Presents that were made or selected with thought are encouraged over presents that are expensive or gotten just for the sake of getting a present for someone. It is especially common to give Gallifreyan children presents.
Otherstide may also be celebrated by an actual feast or dinner, and possibly with Ginger.
